Durres

This is one of the largest cities in Albania and is situated on the shore of the Adriatic Sea. Durrës is the main port in the country and was also the capital until 1920. It is located in the central part of the country, 33 km west of the metropolis of Tirana and approx. 30–40 minutes drive from Tirana Airport, along the northern edge of Draca Bay.

Durres was founded in the 7th century (627) BC by Greek colonists from Corinth and Corfu who fled the Peloponnesian War. Durres is an ancient city, previously known by the name of Epidamnus and later Dyrrachium .

It is the largest city on the coast and is the most visited tourist resort in Albania.

TIRANA is the capital city of Albania. The population size is 800,000. It is also the largest city in Albania and is an inland city. It is named after the castle of Tirkan which is most likely of ancient origin and was first mentioned in Byzantine records. The coast is 36 km from the city. The Tirana and Lana rivers flow through the city and there are several man-made lakes in the city.

Sarandë is the southern pearl of Albania

This small town is located between a high mountain and the Ionian Sea. The name comes from the Byzantine monastery of Agioi Saranda (Greek Άγιοι Σα ράντ α), which when translated to Czech means forty saints.

In ancient times, the city was known by the Greek name of Onchesmos .

A daily ferry connects Saranda with the nearby Greek island of Corfu.
